The World Youth Development Forum(WYDF) is an important platform where young people worldwide can contribute to global development and global efforts are gathered to promote youth development. The initiative to hold the WYDF was announced by President Xi Jinping at the High-level Dialogue on Global Development in 2022. It is a significant measure that converges the strength of the youth to implement the Global Development Initiative and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The theme of this conference reminds us that truly sustainable development means working not only for young people like you, but with you. From climate action and the green and digital economies to jobs and entrepreneurship, to sustainable recovery from the pandemic to the importance of quality education for all—the focus of September's Transforming Education Summit. Across all of the areas you're discussing over the next two days, we need your ideas, innovations, and energies more than ever.

And I urge the leaders and officials joining your discussions at this Forum to heed your calls for change, to put your needs first across their policy and investment decisions, and to urgently support your inclusion and engagement across all aspects of political, economic, and social life.

With the support of the Chinese government and the United Nations system, the All-China Youth Federation, the WYDF Organizing Committee, the United Nations agencies in China, and various partner organizations have successfully hosted the WYDF annually since 2022. Online and offline, the forum attracts thousands of youth representatives from over 100 countries each year, providing a broad platform for young people worldwide to exchange ideas and share practices. The forum has achieved positive outcomes in leading international youth agendas, advocating for global youth action, and promoting global and youth development.

The forum has received support by organizations including the International Labour Organization(ILO), the Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP), the United Nations Population Fund(UNFPA), the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification(UNCCD), the United Nations Habitat(UN-Habitat), and the Asia-Europe Foundation(ASEF). It addresses a wide range of topics, such as green development, digital development, cultural heritage and innovation, employment and entrepreneurship, quality education, and youth-friendly cities. Through various forms of practical activities such as annual meetings, thematic forums, regional forums, dialogues, roundtables, and training camps, the forum fosters mutual learning, solidarity, and cooperation among young people worldwide. It serves as a platform to gather the broadest global youth wisdom and strength, contributing to the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.
