Thematic Forum for Employment and Entrepreneurship of World Youth Development Forum was held in Beijing

BEIJING, July 23(China Youth Daily)-The Employment and Entrepreneurship Thematic Forum of the first World Youth Development Forum was held in Beijing on July 22. Vice Minister of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, YU Jiadong and Vice President of the All-China Youth Federation, FU Zhenbang attended the forum to give opening remarks. The online-offline hybrid forum was also attended by nearly 300 youth representatives from all over the world.

Representatives from governments and international organizations also?attended the forum, including: LEE Changhee, Director for ILO Country Office for China and Mongolia; Justine Coulson, UNFPA Representative to China and Country Director for UNFPA in Mongolia; David Morris, Vice Chair, UN Asia Pacific Sustainable Business Network; Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs of Pakistan who also gave her opening remarks. The representatives stressed employment and entrepreneurship as the core support for youth development, and called on all actors to work together and play critical roles, so that the world can successfully implement the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and jointly achieve the SDGs.
 
In the keynote speeches, speakers shared case studies and best practices of different regions, professions, and organizations, including detailed measures on how to empower youth employment and entrepreneurship. They encouraged young people?to grasp the opportunities afforded by the new round of technological revolution and sustainable development and proactively innovate and start up their own businesses.
 
The panelist discussions surrounded the topic "New Employment Opportunities Created by New Economy", which included how the global pandemic and digital economy have transformed the world. Youths today should take stock of the direction for economic growth, boldly innovate, and keep up to date with the new forms of employment available. Better employment advised by the panelists to youth, means greater self-realization. They also advocated?youth engagement in high-standard innovation and entrepreneurship to take the driver's seat in global economic transition, transformation, and restructuring.
 
This forum is hosted by the All-China Youth Federation,?organized?by?the China Foundation for Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment, and supported by the PKU Entrepreneur’s Training Camp. The mission of the forum is to deepen the discussion on youth employment and entrepreneurship and seek to address outstanding issues. The forum has facilitated the sharing of experiences and best practices, which will provide fuel for the world to?implement?the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and the Global Development Agenda.?The forum has also expressed China's commitment to expanding high-level opening-up, which encourages?young talents from all over the world to come to China to develop and share in China's development dividend.
