BRICS Youth Ministers’ Meeting and Youth Summit held in Brazil

On June 10 local time, the 2025 BRICS Youth Ministers’ Meeting and Youth Summit were held in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil. Government officials in charge of youth affairs and youth representatives from Brazil, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, South Africa, the UAE, Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Nigeria, and Malaysia attended the meeting both online and offline. At the meeting, the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Youth Affairs Among BRICS Countries was adopted and signed.

Xu Xiao, President of the All-China Youth Federation, stated in a video address that youth represent the future of nations as well as the future of BRICS cooperation. He expressed his expectation that BRICS countries would build consensus on youth development and champion the principle of prioritizing youth development; uphold multilateralism while creating platforms for youth participation in global governance; and unite the collective strength of young people to inject youthful momentum into the modernization of the “Global South”.

The BRICS Youth Summit was held prior to the Ministers’ Meeting. Youth representatives from member countries engaged in in-depth discussions on seven key themes: Science, Technology, and Innovation; Education, Skills, and Training; Development, Combating Hunger, and Inequality; Environment and Sustainable Development; Health and Sports; Social Participation, Social Work, and Volunteerism; and Youth Entrepreneurship. During the closing ceremony, participants presented the outcomes of their deliberations.

It is reported that the BRICS Youth Ministers’ Meeting and Youth Summit are institutionalized events under the BRICS cooperation framework in the field of youth affairs, hosted in turn by the BRICS chair country.(By Guoxinguan/ China Youth Daily)
