Youth from China and ASEAN Gather in Nanning to Share Stories of Friendship and Cooperation
On October 18, 2025, the 2025 China (Guangxi) - ASEAN Youth Hand-in-Hand Event, with the theme of "Youth Advance Friendship Together," was held at Guangxi Medical University. Nearly 500 people, including young representatives, teachers, students and representatives of organizing units from China and many ASEAN countries gathered together to exchange ideas and consolidate friendship.
Co-organized by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Youth Federation and the Press Office of the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the event was jointly hosted by Guangxi Medical University, the China (Guangxi) International Youth Exchange Institution, and Guangxi Radio and Television.
During the sharing session, six newly appointed "Youth Storytellers of Guangxi" from China and ASEAN countries vividly recounted their personal experiences in fields such as artificial intelligence, cultural exchanges, healthcare, education cooperation, and youth development, demonstrating the youthful force driving the construction of a China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
Huang Youzhang, Deputy General Manager of Maiyue Technology , explained his original motivation for developing AI-powered translation glasses. Facing the challenge of scarce linguistic data for ASEAN languages, he led his team to start from "a single language card" and gradually built the "China-ASEAN Multilingual Corpus," increasing translation accuracy from 60% to over 90%.
Lao student Su Liwan witnessed the rebirth of her compatriot at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University. Recounting the successful hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for a Lao child with thalassemia in Guangxi, she expressed her hope to bring the advanced concepts and techniques learned in China back to Laos, contributing to the development of Laos' hematological disease prevention and treatment system as well as telemedicine infrastructure.
Malaysian student Li Jiawen, meanwhile, used music as a bridge to promote cultural exchange. From the China-ASEAN Expo to the stage of the "Guangxi Sanyuesan Festival," she used her singing to bring people closer together.

Students from various universities presented performances during the event.
Vietnamese student Wu Mingying from Guangxi Arts University performed the dance "Impressions of Vietnam," while Myanmar student De Xin played "Melody of Love" on the saung, a traditional Burmese harp. The choir of Guangxi Minzu University presented "Song of Land and Sea - Guangxi's Intangible Cultural Heritage Sea Chant," using art as a bridge to showcase the fruitful achievements in cultural and artistic exchanges between Guangxi and ASEAN countries.
Since 2022, the Event has been successfully held for four sessions, attracting over 1,500 outstanding young people from China and ASEAN countries to participate. This has built a beneficial platform for promoting mutual learning and common development among young people in the region.
