Founded and led by young people, CJE-AOC aims to amplify youth voices, drive governments to honor commitments, and facilitate constructive dialogue between young people, governments and development partners concerning adolescent health and well-being.
The platform unites youth organizations from 25 countries. It engages young people in sexual and reproductive health, education and social development through training, policy dialogue and advocacy activities. Around 13 active national youth communities have been established across 25 countries, mobilizing over 300 youth leaders.
Advocacy training is provided for 30 youth organizations in Mali. Youth groups in Congo and Chad are supported to formulate national action roadmaps. Policy consultations, workshops and community dialogues are held in Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Cameroon and other nations. Advocacy capacity training is carried out in Côte d'Ivoire. Jointly with national youth councils, mental health and gender-based violence prevention campaigns are launched in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The platform takes part in policy dialogues with the World Health Organization, the African Union and other bodies, advocating increased support for youth in the Global South.
