How can education support young people deal with eco-anxiety and build resilience? - That was the focus of the 4th Youth Climate LAB, the peer-learning activity organised this summer by the Education for Climate Coalition. Its action package with practical ways to address eco-anxiety will be presented during the Education for Climate Day 2026 on 22 October.

Between 13 and 18 July 2026, 25 young Education for Climate community members came together online to meet experts, explore climate emotions, exchange ideas and co-create practical solutions for learners, educators and other climate education stakeholders.

This year's edition focused on eco-anxiety and resilience in education. Participants explored how climate emotions are shaped by personal experiences, climate narratives, media and social media, and how education can support young people in understanding difficult feelings while building resilience and agency.

The final action package includes 6 recommendations for teachers, trainers and other education stakeholders working with young people and students. They offer practical ways to address eco-anxiety, create supportive learning spaces and help learners move from worry to meaningful action.

Participants also developed 2 creative activities for secondary education, vocational training and higher education. They can be adapted by educators to fit different teaching environments and are designed to work together by addressing climate emotions and resilience from different angles.

The action package will be presented during Education for Climate Day 2026, taking place on 22 October in Brussels, where two Youth Climate LAB representatives will share the outcomes with the wider community.
