On August 22, the 2026 BRICS Youth Ministers' Meeting was held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. Heads of youth affairs authorities from BRICS member states — Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Indonesia — attended the gathering and delivered remarks.

The Meeting reviewed and adopted the Joint Statement of the 2026 BRICS Youth Ministers' Meeting and the BRICS Youth Cooperation Framework. The two documents reaffirmed the ten priority areas of BRICS youth cooperation, and pledged to further strengthen experience sharing and project collaboration under four pillars: Education, Entrepreneurship and Future Readiness; Inclusive Development and Youth Well-being; Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility; and People-to-People Cooperation and Youth Engagement.
Prior to the Ministers’ Meeting, the BRICS Youth Summit and Youth Council Meeting were held. Under the theme “Building Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, this series of BRICS youth conferences brought together youth representatives from BRICS countries for roundtable discussions around four themes: “Education, Entrepreneurship and Future Readiness”, “Inclusive Development and Youth Well-being”, “Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility”, and “People-to-People Cooperation and Youth Engagement”. Chinese youth representatives actively took the floor and engaged in discussions at the meetings. They shared innovative practices and contributions of Chinese youth in advancing global sustainable development, and put forward concrete proposals to advance pragmatic youth cooperation among BRICS nations.
It is reported that the BRICS Youth Ministers’ Meeting, Youth Summit and Youth Council Meeting are key youth-focused events under the BRICS cooperation framework. Hosted by the BRICS rotating presidency, these events seek to strengthen youth policy dialogue, boost friendly exchanges among young people and expand platforms for youth cooperation.
