Launched by President Xi Jinping at the High-level Dialogue on Global Development in 2022, the initiative of “jointly launching the Action Plan for Global Youth Development” mobilizes young people from around the world to take concrete actions to implement the Global Development Initiative and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Acceleration Week for Global Youth Development Programs is the annual flagship event of the Action Plan, aiming to promote the Action Plan, showcase its achievements, and empower youth leaders.
The 2026 Acceleration Week for Global Youth Development Programs (hereinafter referred to as the Acceleration Week) will be held from June 11 to 17 in Shanghai and Wuhan. It will provide a practical platform for young practitioners dedicated to development to showcase their programs, elevate their capacities, and expand cooperation. The Acceleration Week is co-hosted by the All-China Youth Federation, the United Nations Children's Fund, and China Youth Daily, and organized by Shanghai Youth Federation and Hubei Youth Federation.
With the support of partners from various countries, the Acceleration Week have selected 200 youth development programs from 79 countries around the world, including 150 international programs and 50 Chinese programs. The founding teams and leaders of these programs are mainly young people. The Acceleration Week will invite one youth leader from each program to participate. Youth leaders will be grouped into 8 Program Clusters based on sustainable development areas, including Technological Innovation and Application, Volunteerism and Poverty Reduction, Green Development, Artificial Intelligence+, Lifelong Learning and Upskilling, Trendy Culture and Youth Community, Good Health and Well-being, and Sustainable Production. The Acceleration Week will invite Chinese and international mentors and experts from international organizations to join each Program Cluster to provide targeted training and guidance for youth leaders. Through the Acceleration Week, the Action Plan will select Excellence Programs that contribute to global development and youth development.
During the Acceleration Week, a series of activities will be held, including Pre-Meeting, Launching Ceremony, Workshops, Partnership Meetings, Culture Night, and enterprise visits and exchanges. Through mentor guidance, program roadshow, case study, and program matchmaking, the Acceleration Week help to promote best practices that contribute to global development and youth development, build a community of youth leaders for sustainable development, and advance international cooperation on youth development.
